A business
associate Sebastian Givelet was visiting me from France. During
dinner, he said "I know you like wine and thought
this might be for interest to you". With that he pulled
out a beautiful hand painted 1933 wine catalog from the famous
wine retailer, Nicolas ( founded in 1892 ). He had found this amongst
some family papers and brought it to share with me.
Needless to say, I was astounded !! Not only at the beauty of
the catalog ( wouldn't it be nice if we received ones like that
today ) but needless to say at the prices !!!
Stephan returned this week and presented me with a CD of scanned
images of the entire catalog and I am ever so grateful to be able
to share a bit of this wine history here on our pages.
Please note that all prices are in French Francs. Also, what is
amazing is that these were bottles that they had in their shop
!!!!!!!!!! Imagine walking into a wine shop and finding a bottle
from the 1700's !
