| Kabinett |
Kabinett is the first level of ripeness in the
QmP category. It represents a measure of ripeness in the German classification
system. It measures the amount of natural grape sugar in the juice
at the point of harvest. Kabinett wines are usually the lightest
(in alcohol) since this is the first level of QmP, which can not
be chaptalized and has the lowest natural sugar amount to ferment.
Kabinett wines can be very dry, dry, medium-dry, off-dry or sweeter
style, depending on the decision of the winemaker when to stop the
fermentation determining the amount of residual sweetness in the
wine. Kabinett make for light great sipping wines, summer wines and
party wines. |
