is made from the cabernet sauvignon grape variety.
The name is always that grape that is the "main" one .. example
.. in a U.S. Cab there can be a small percentage of other grapes used, such
as Malbec, Merlot, or Cabernet Franc .. but since the largest percentage
is cabernet sauvignon ... that is the varietal for this wine. |

neat thing is that the awarding of the VDQS label is made by vine
growers themselves ... voting on which wines should qualify and then
an independent panel of government inspectors reviews reviews and
ok's the results. |

The year that the grapes of a given wine were
harvested. Many people often confuse this as meaning the date that
it is bottled .. heck if that were true .. we'd have some Ports made
out grapes from the 1975 vintage that were not bottled until 1996
and we'd have to say the vintage was 1996 instead of the real vintage
date which, in this case, would be 1975. |
