Fragrance:None
Light:partial sun to full sun
Soil: our standard mix
Planting/Care: none .. to encourage more blooms next year ( they bloom
on new growth) trim back the branches that had blooms on them right after the
blooming is finished.
Propagation: seed
Blooms: july - sept
Notes: We are blessed here in NC to have these gracefull tree/shrubs almost
as native plants. The birds spread their seeds and they come up very often along
roadsides. While there are several varieties .. many of which have some spectacular
bark coloring .. the ones we have are courtesy of bird droppings so we don't know
what variety they are. Here in Raleigh, they begin their blooming period in July
and it lasts thru August. These can be trimmed in either a tree form by keeping
suckers trimmed off (note try to trim them so that the trunks don't rub against
each other) .. or in a bush form.
August 1, 1998 ... Plant shown is around 12 years old and stands 20' tall
