Winter Daphne

Fragrance: Huge honey,lemon scent
Light: partial sun/light shade
Soil: our standard mix .. with a bit more conditioner for better drainage
Planting/Care: Once planted .. DO NOT MOVE .. it hates to be moved. Don't plant anything near the roots because they hate to be disturbed. Prune only by picking flowers .. doesn't like excessive pruning.
Propagation: Easily propagated from cuttings. Heck we've even just stuck some in the dirt and about 25% lived.
Blooms: feb- march
Notes: This is our FAVORITE winter plant. One or two cuttings of flowers will fill an entire room with it's wonderful scent. What a wonderful pick me up in the middle of a dreary February.

2/7/98.. early February and filled with blooms. Plants shown are around 8 years old, 3-4' high and 3' wide

5/2/98.. We've found Daphne really easy to propogate .. here is a cutting that we simply stuck into some lousy dirt by the side of the house last fall and forgot about it

April 15, 2001 - We've even found that it grows well in a pot outdoors ... this 2' high plant is 3 years old from cutting we stuck in this pot
