Jacob's Walking Stick

Fragrance: None
Light: sun
Soil: our standard mix
Planting/Care: keep suckers that emerge from the base trimmed off.
Propagation: Dunno
Notes: This wonderfully knarled bush is at it's best in the winter when you can enjoy all of the twisted shapes of the branches. During the spring/summer/fall it is covered with soft leaves to give it a nice texture. The knarled branches make for great cuttings. This is one time we wish we had more snow since the contrast of the knarled branches against snow is spectacular.

February 2, 1998 we should have put a sheet up behind the plant in this picture so you could have seen the 100's of finely knarled branches. The plant shown is 8 yrs old, 5' high and 4' wide

April 19, 2000 it's still hard to capture a picture of this wonderful plant. It is now about 7' tall and 5' wide and its knarled branches are getting even "uglier" ... much to our delight
