Light: partial sun/light shade
Soil: our standard mix
Planting/Care: Prune back by 1/3 to 1/2 after blooming .. blooms come on new growth
Propagation: division
Blooms: March - may
Notes: Every other year we do not prune this back because we like the brilliant green "stalks" as a visual in the winter time, even then it blooms very well. Blooming lasts thru mid summer.


   
March 12, 1998 - did not prune this year and still had lots of blooms. Plant is 6 yrs old, 8-9' high .. 3' high
April 19, 2000 - last fall we pruned this back ( licorice plant is the big leaved plant in front of it ) and this spring we had tons of blooms. This plant seems to spread by sending up lots of new shoots so we are going to dig some up and see how well it transplants.
April 15, 2001 - this year was spectacular -- will most likely do a trim job after flowering. Also will dig up and transplant some of the many shoots that it spreads by
