Greg writes .....

A brief cellar history is in order. We moved in to this house four years ago. Tami wanted it because she fell in love with the house. I wanted it because it had a basement wine cellar. A match made in heaven.

The room in the basement had several terra cotta drainage pipes that were arranged as wine bins.

After the first summer here I decided that the upper 60 degree temps were not suitable and decided to put in some sort of temperature control for the summer months. That winter I put up the drop ceiling and had my a/c man put in the $200 window unit into the former coal chute. The window unit is hooked up to a thermostat that simply cuts the unit on and off when then set temperatures are reached. The window unit is set to High Cool at all times but runs very seldom.

You'll notice there is a humidifier on the floor as well. I have to use that during the winter to keep the humidity up.

You'll also notice some mildew from condensation along the corridor I've built in the ceiling tiles. I've yet to spray it with Kilz or some such.
