John Writes ...

I completed my cellar a few months ago, and am now busy trying to select wines(budget permitting).

My wine cellar is below grade about 10 feet. The entire 14 ft x 6 ft room is lined with pine planking. The ceiling is bowed into an arch to gine a true cellar effect. The redwood racks were purchased from one of the catalog suppliers and there is space for 1200 bottles.

I did make provision for a cellar chiller, but delayed installing it until I get a good feel for the summertime temperatures. Last summer it stayed below 63 F and in the winter its about 55 F. I doubt if I need the chiller. The room is well insulated and air tight with plastic sheeting, caulking, and a steel airtight door.

I hope you like this picture

Well John .. Betsy's comments were .. Look at the floor and that neat table .. ours seems to be safely in first place for the "ugly cellar" award. Thanks again
