Linda B. from Virginia sends us these great pictures. She describes her wine
experiences as follows ..
So now I'm a bum who has just built a wine cellar and loves wine shopping sprees.
I'm new to the wine world, just into it for a couple years, so my cellar's pretty
young. The vast majority of my cellar is CA Zin and Cab/Cab blends with a smattering
of Bordeaux, Burgs, and Aussies. My fave wines so far are St Francis Pagani Rsv
Zin, Penfold's 707, and Phelps' Insignia
Location: A couple years ago we built a guest house which has an apton second
floor, concrete ground floor is split in half, garage on oneside, utility, bath,
lotsa space on the other. So Frank said I could build my wine box there. Due to
a little calculation error, the ceiling is 10.5' tall, so the cellar has a "roof,"
giving us 2.5' of storage space on top.
Cellar: Dimensions
7'10"W X 9'3"D X 7'5'h
Simple 2X4 construction
3" R25 insulation wrapped in plastic
Whisperkool 3000
8 double deep rack units, total capacity 2016
Magnums have to go on top
I have removable shelves on top to hold extra stemware and my olive oil collection
Floor painted with deck paint
Fancy "oriental" rug, $20 at Lowes or Costco
Lighting fixtures, $10 at Sam's Club
Walls regular drywall, painted with semi-gloss latex
I've taped letters and numbers on the racking. Some day I'm gonna talk Frank into
firing up that little tool for burning stuff into wood and have him do fancy letters
and numbers for me.
The first thing that betsy said was ... Look at the oriental
rug in her cellar and why doesn't ours have lighting
like this !!
We thank Linda for sharing her cellar with us ... If you have any cellar pictures
that you're willing to share with us and our readers, please drop
us a line
