Unique Corkscrew Willow

( close up )

What makes this different from regular corkscrew willows is that it grows with but one trunk, and it has long branches that weep to the ground. Regular corkscrews often grow with more than one trunk, and have branches that grow upward and do not weep. Please (if possible) ask people if they have ever seen another tree like this with one trunk, and weeping branches brushing the ground.
People can email me at fshoward@tir.com
Ellen F. Fritilleria meleagris (Guinea hen flower) Fritilleria meleagris (Guinea hen flower) is a member of the lilaceae family. The flowers come in white or that purple color. Both types are spotted. They are bulbs that need to be planted on their sides (!) ca. 4 in. deep and 3 in. apart. They will multiply readily if given the right conditions. It likes part-shade. Grows ca. 1 foot tall. Blooms in the spring. Likes moist, humusy (is this a word?) soil. They are hearty from zone 4 thru 8. I LOVE them and have them next to my false Solomon seals. They bloom at about the same time and the contrast is lovely.
Guinevere R. - Texas

This is an individual blossom of the Indian Paintbrush, the faithful companion of the Texas Bluebonnet. These bloom together side by side in seas of blue and red all over the Texas landscape for several weeks between March and April.

I caught this butterfly resting on a bouganvilla bloom while on vacation in Monterrey, Mexico. This plant was huge!!! These gorgeous plants grow in Texas too, but most of the state can keep it only in containers to keep them from frost.
