I live in Hiratsuka-city near Yokohama.Japan, which belongs to a Temperate Zone, monsoon climate area. We have moist, hot summers where it is 30 degrees C, usually for 7 weeks. We have cool winters where it is zero degrees C, for 6 weeks. With lots of rain and a warm climate, plants grow well.

Japan is mountainous, with little amounts of field areas. Therefore, as you may know, each Japanese garden is so small. But if I will take drive for 5 minutes by a car, I can arrive at a paddy field. It is a treasury of wild grass. I am happy that if I can introduce the prettiness of these flowers in pictures for you.

I've taken a wildflower pictures for over 25 years. I usually use a 35mm-film-camera with 100mm macro-lens. (because, my digital camera only has a wide-angle lens.). I make a digital picture file by a film-scanner(CANON 2700F). After scanning the photos, if necessary I will touch up the a color with Microsoft Photo Editor or Adobe Photoshop.

	Adonis amurensis	This flower is beginning to grow in early spring as just like to celebrate a new year.
	Ajuga decumbens	Length of leaf 4-6 cm, Length of flower about 1 cm.This flower blooms in spring.
	Ajuga makinoi	This flower blooms in April. Length of the stem is 5-15 cm, length of the flower is 11-13 mm. I took the picture with an electronic-flash against the darkness.
	Allium tuberosum	This flower is a leek.
	Arisaema serratum	This flower blooms in late spring.Height of 70 cm, flower's length of 25 cm. It's likely that a snake raises a head. (As florescence had passed,it is slightly bowing the head in this picture.) This flower is the same family as a skunk cabbage.
	Bidens frondosa_L	Height of 10-150 cm.This is tropical grass.
	Calanthe discolor	This flower blooms in May. Height of 15-30 cm,Diameter of 20-30 mm. Its bending root seems a back of a shrimp. It is an orchid family, but not flashy. I love this quiet tone.
	Canavalia glagiata	This flower blooms in spring. Height of 10 cm,diameters of 2.5 cm. It is a bean family.
	Cardamine scutata	This flower blooms in early spring. Height of 10-30 cm,diameters of 3-5 mm.
	Clematis ovatifolia	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Length of the stem is 70-120 cm. Diameter of 2-4 cm.
	Corydalis decumbens	This blooms in spring.Height of 10-20 cm,length of the flower is 20 mm. In the past,In Japan.When children play at tug of war to hitch these flowers each other.We can use the root for medicine.
	Cypripedium japonicum	This flower blooms from late spring to early summer. Height of 20-40 cm, Diameter of 4.5-5.0 cm.
	Disporum sessile	This flower blooms from April to May. Height of 30-50 cm.Lenght of flower is 2.5 cm.
	Epimedium macranthum	It blooms in spring.Height of 20-40 cm,diameter of 3-5 cm.The flower's shape like an anchor of a ship.
	Fagopyrum esculentum	This is buckwheat. The flower blooms from summer to fall. Height of 40-70 cm,diameter of 4 mm. We can make a buckwheat noodle from it. This plant grows in dry and poor soil.
	Glechoma hederacea	Height of 5-25 cm, Length of 1.5-2.5 cm.In early spring,it grows through a fence for to propagate.
	Gnaphalium affine	It blooms from spring to summer. Height of 20-30 cm. This picture is the best for me. Yet,I am not able to take any more picture.
	Hydrangea macrophylla	This flower blooms from May to July. Height of 1.5 m. The calyx looks a petal. The Hue of this flower is subtly changed by the soil and the moisture.We enjoy a variation of hue of each flowers.
	Hypericum Ascyron	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Height of 50-90 cm,diameter of 4-6 cm. The petals shape like a swirl.
	Impatiens noli-tangere	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Length of the stem is 40-60 cm,length of the flower is 3 cm.
	Impatiens textori	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Length of the stem is 40-80 cm,length of the flower is 4 cm. This flower is suspended by flowerstalk from a stem, so this flower is shaken just like a boat by a breeze.
	Indigofera pseudo-tinctoria	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Height of 30-70 cm. Diameter of 4-5 mm. This stem is so strong that we can hitch a horse to it.
	Iris japonica	This flower blooms in May. Height of 40-70 cm, Diameter of 5 cm. This flower grew in the inside of a moist grove. The sight which a white flower appeared in darkness was very impressive. I took it at Hakone.
	Isodon inflexus	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 0.5-1.0 m,diameter of 10 cm. It grows near mountain.
	Justicia procumbens	This flower blooms from a summer to autumn. Height of 10-40 cm,length of the flower is 8 mm. A small petal lets us imagine a tail of a tiny fox. In Japan,Often a plant name had been named for an animal.
	Lanium amplexicaule	This flower blooms in early spring. Height of 10-30 cm,length of a flower is 17-20 mm.
	Lapsana apogonoides	This flower blooms in early spring. Height of 10-25 cm,diameters of 1.5-3 cm.
	Lamium purpureum	It blooms in spring.Height of 10-25 cm,diameter of 10-15 mm.The shape like a woman dancer,but a figure of the total seems the man who just like wears a black mantle.
	Latus corniculatus	This flower blooms from spring to summer. Length of the stem is 10-30 cm,length of the flower is 15 mm. This flower is a legume. This grass doesn't bloom at the pure country. This grows well where a house is.
	Leonurus sibiricus	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Height of 1 m.
	Lilium speciousum	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 1-2 m,Length of the flower is 8-10 cm.
	Lithospermum zollingeri	It blooms in spring.Height of 15-20 cm,diameter of 15-18 mm.It fluoresces.
	Lupinus luteus	This flower blooms in early summer.
	Lycoris radiata	This flower blooms in September. Height of 30-50 cm,diameter of 8-10 cm. Its root contains high quality starch with alkaloid. But we washed powder of the root by water well. The poison could dissolve in water,and we can eat it.
	Mazus miqulii	This flower blooms in spring. Height of 15-20 cm,Length of 1.5-2.0 cm.
	Oenothera erythrosepala	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 1 m.Diameter of 6-10 cm.
	Oxalis corniculata	It blooms in spring.Diameter of 6-10 mm.The three leaves adhere on a leafstalk as a slant.Then we could see that one of three-leaves is chipped.
	Persicaria nipponensis	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 1 m, diameter of 5 mm. This grass has a sharp tongue.
	Petasites japonica	This blooms in early spring.Height of 10-20 cm.We eat the leafstalk or the scape.The bitter relish is my favorite.
	Phryma leptostachya	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 30-70 cm,diameter of 5 mm. This root has a poison. If we rub-crush it, and paint it paper. When a fly perches on the paper,the fly has died by the poison.
	Plantago asiatica	This flower blooms from spring to summer. Height of 20 cm. This leaf can become the medicine of the cough stopping.
	Potentilla fragarioides	The flower blooms in spring.Length of leaf is 10-20 cm,diameter of a flower is 1.5-2.0 cm.
	Pyrola japonica	It blooms from late spring to early summer. Height of 15-30 cm, Diameter of 14 mm.
	Rosaceae	This blooms in summer. Height of about 1 meter,diameters of 3 cm. It have a thick cuticular by cut in for grows to a coast.
	Rumex japonica	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 50-100 cm. This flower has a zest when it has withered up.
	Scutellaria indica	This flower blooms in early summer. Length of the stem is 20-40 cm, Length of the flower is 16-20 mm. This flower is likely a wave crest rising.
	Spiranthes australis	This flower blooms from eary summer to midsummer. Height of 15 cm,diameter of 5 mm. It is too small to see an orchid family for us. This flower sticks to a stem clockwise. But,another flower sticks to it counterclockwise. The differently spiral flower occurs from a different stock.
	Stellaria aquatica	Height of 20-50 cm,Diameter of 1 cm. This flower blooms from spring to fall. This leaf and stem is used for feed of a little bird. The style separates into 5 at the tip. Here is a small form of this flower separated into 3,
	Stellaria radicans	This flower blooms in summer. Height of 60 cm,Diameter of 15-22 mm. This flower only grows in Hokkaidou in Japan.
	Tithymalus helioscopia	It blooms in spring.Height of 10-40 cm,Diameter of 1.5-2.5 mm.The flower is poison.
	Tithymalus sieboldianus	This flower blooms from spring to summer. Height of 50 cm, Diameter of 9 mm. This is a neat and sublime flower. I love it very much. Putting 4 crescents together are stamens. A lying ball is a pistil.
	Trigonotis peduncularis	This blooms in early spring.Height of 10-30 cm,diameters of 2 mm. If you'll rub a young leaf,so smell like a cucumber.
	Tricyrtis hirta	This flower blooms from summer to fall. Length of the stem is 40-80 cm. Diameter of 5-6 cm. The petal has a fleck of purple like a on a chest of a little cockoo.

	Veronica persica	This blooms in early spring.Height of 10-35 cm,diameters of 1.5-4 cm.This flower visited to Japan in Meiji era.
