Please pardon our mess ... for our 10th anniversary
we are updating all of the over 1000 pages on Strat's Place. This
will take a bit of time so we hope you bear with the varying "looks" of
the pages - Art& Betsy
German Wine Labels
Some very old German Wine labels .. contributed by Jens G.
He has more if collectors are interested, they can email him at Jens.Goettert@ism.rlp.de
This was a further-times "fan"-label, because of PFF Dilthey, the
wine merchant, adored the shown opera-star Henriette Sonntag (called "divine
Jette"), born 1803 in Koblenz and died 1854 at her America-Tour in Mexico
City by cholera. At her time, she was celebrated by Chopin, Rossini, Weber
and especially Beethoven (so she was soloist at the first performance of
his famous "Ninth Symphonie" in 7th May 1824. Other portraits of
her can be found in "Keffer's Collectionof Sheet Music" at the
University of Pennsylvania Library Homepage.
Our sincere thanks to
Jens for sharing the beautiful labels above
